A Mother Of Two Cystic Fibrosis Children Writes: " Dear Sarah Palin"

A Catholic, homeschooling, Alaskan family with kids with cystic fibrosis. It's Life. It's Good. Thanks be to God.

Dear Sarah Palin

Dear Sarah Palin,

I saw you at Walmart yesterday. My first thought was to interrupt to say hello but I wasn't entirely sure it was you so I held back. When I saw you again at the checkout line (I promise I wasn't following!) and heard you say "Thank you, Ma'am," on your way out, I knew it was you but then it was too late. As my husband and I drove home, we talked about things we remembered (We've lived here 20 years.).

Had I interrupted you in your search for yogurt, I would have asked if your big son had Christmas leave and if your little son was doing well. I would have asked about your daughters and grandson and if your extended family gathers at your pretty house on the lake. I would have asked about your mother, who taught my small sons' Sunday school class many years ago at MatSu Covenant church (Hi Miss Sally!). I would have said that I'm so glad to see you home for Christmas and that I bought your book for a present and read it before wrapping! I wouldn't have talked politics too much, but I would have told you that we thought (and still think) that you're doing a great job and that I trust your researching into candidates and propositions  (There's a local lady that I also pay attention to: whatever she does, I do the opposite.). This is not because I'm lazy but because I'm busy with kids to homeschool and interesting things to read on the internet!

Had I interrupted you, I would have shown you my one-year-old with cystic fibrosis, born in my mid-forties, that others would have aborted. I would have told you that we have premier doctors up here and that life is wonderful. I would have told you that my eldest is attending college locally on a state scholarship and has no desire to leave our great state. I would have told you that my twelve year old daughter is pretty hard-headed and what about your girls?!

Had I interrupted you, we would have parted friends. I imagine when one has such a public life that other people feel they know you, and I'm no exception.

The next time I see you; I plan to interrupt!

Merry Christmas to you and yours and may the new year bring strength and joy.
God bless you, dear Sarah Palin.
Your friend,
Allison (and all my family)

Sarah Palin: A momma grizzly with a heart of gold

Sarah Palin may have launched a book tour promoting Good Tidings and Great Joy this Christmas season, but more importantly, she is promoting what she calls, “the greatest joy” – children with special needs.
As she meets with ordinary Americans all across the heartland, Palin makes a point to connect with families who have children with special needs.
It has been five years since Palin promised those families on national television, “I pledge to you that…you have a friend, an advocate, in the White House.” Well, she may not be in the White House, but she has certainly reached out to families all across the country and continues to keep in touch – a rarity these days.

Yes, Palin is a rarity these days – one who embraces and fights for the real hope that the Christmas season offers. Following a recent speech at Liberty University’s Convocation to thousands, one of the students, Hal, asked Palin: “Who’s been your biggest inspiration?”
And after all that Palin has been through, as a hockey mom in Wasilla pursuing the first female Vice-Presidency of the United States of America, enduring relentless attacks from the left, right, and center, her answer may surprise you.
Palin candidly replied, “Today, my biggest inspiration’s been my youngest child, Trig, a five-year-old who was born with Down syndrome, born with challenges that are going to be greater than most of us will ever face.”
“Todd and I say all the time we wouldn’t change anything in our family, any of the situations for the world, because we get to see what God has shown us – what true perfection is, and that is this true perfection of our son. There’s the world’s standards of perfection, and then there’s God’s standards of perfection. And it’s His standards at the end of the day that really matter.”
“When we look at our son, we are inspired; we are motivated; we are more compassionate. We feel gifted and fortunate to have Trig in our lives. He is the most influential person in my family’s life today, and I thank God for our son, Trig,” Palin said, beaming with a proud smile.
Sarah Palin sincerely empowers average, everyday Americans, and in the same way, she fights for those who cannot fight for themselves. She stands up for the underdogs – not only pre-born children, but children who have already been born with greater challenges than most will ever experience. In fact, over 90 percent of children diagnosed with Down syndrome are aborted before they are ever allowed to experience this world.
Sarah Palin knows the true reason for the season. It’s Trig and the many other children who face similar challenges that truly capture what is so special about this time of year – celebrating the miraculous birth of a babe in a manger, who overcame the world’s greatest challenge and brought good tidings and the greatest of all joys.

"Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin may have taken another step toward seeking the 2016 Republican Presidential nomination with a combative op-ed on Breitbart.

Recalling that she had once beaten crooked Republican politicians in Alaska – who'd brazenly tagged themselves "the Corrupt Bastards Club" – Palin rhetorically asked: "Doesn't it seem like [today] we have a Corrupt Bastards Club in D.C.? On steroids?"

Disloyal Republicans are enabling President Barack Obama to march the country toward socialism while denouncing Sens. Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and tea party-aligned House members who have been trying to defund Obamacare, Palin charged.

Establishment GOP politicians failed to use the power of the purse to halt Obamacare's implementation. Instead, "they balked, waved the white flag, and joined the lapdog media in trashing the good guys who fought for us," Palin wrote.

She challenged the Republican establishment to unite behind conservative grassroots efforts to block Obamacare before it is too late.

She warned that Obamacare is part of a phased plan toward socialized medicine and raised the prospect that the system's much-lamented computer glitches could be part of a purposeful scheme to accelerate that process."

My Reply After Being Challenged By A Liberal Sister Over Sandy Hook & My Palin Support

Hi Mike,
Today in America is one year since 26 innocent kids & teachers were murdered in an elementary school, in Newtown Connecticut,  yesterday, there was another school shooting.  It's becoming too common and of course, David's brother, murdered by a guy who easily bought a AK47 Rifle.
I wonder if that makes you re-consider your support for Sarah Palin , who is pro-guns.
Just a thought.
Deb.**

Thanks for being interested in my opinion. Your values on this do you credit.

To address your question. I support Governor Palin yes but that does not necessarily mean that on every issue and to a 100% degree I support her position. I support her concepts of a balanced budget, lower taxation, a conservative social and religious outlook and right to life ( the latter allowing for certain exception). I also believe in her sincerity, her valuing of the family and her honesty in what she says and does.

Not coming from the outdoors background-we are a NYC family! I don't have the same concern for guns as the sports persons groups she and millions like her represent. I can understand their concerns of course and also the concerns of those who see the danger of a government impinging on the rights of those who hunt and those who see government as a threat to individualism.

Like you I am concerned with the amount of gun fatalities and would support a proper balance between those who have the concerns that hunters and individualists have and those who see deaths caused by criminals. The example you raised of Sandy Hook is another dimension which has, perhaps, as much to do with concerns for the care, identification and treatment of those who are mentally disturbed.

You only have to look at the young man who shot those children, or have a cursory read of his background, to see that no gun legislation, except total banning, would have prevented the massacre. As it happens his mother had, legally, purchased the gun he used.

The same scenario of mental instability was the case in the 'Batman" Colorado cinema shooting and the Gabby Gifford's tragedy.

Given that there will never be a ban of the right to buy guns, it is a constitutional right which will never see a two thirds majority to have overturned, there has to be a reasoned and reasonable dialogue, free from the hyperbole of dogmatism which addresses the issues, including the mental health issues (which was the factor in David's brother's shooting) relating to guns, and also urban crime/gang/drug related gun violence in the Black community.

I would be confident that Governor Palin would share that point of view, but again, that is just one issue amongst many. In passing getting more conservative as one gets older is perfectly natural.

Our Dad went from voting for a radical left-winger Henry Wallace for president in 1948, to voting for a radical conservative Ross Perot, but was still the same wonderful man throughout! I hope that as I continue on a similar trajectory (from voting for McGovern to Palin) I remain half the man he was.

Fondly,
 MJ

2013 Wrangler NFR Round 8

It was a day that Shania Twain and Sarah Palin shined in the spotlight at the 55th Annual Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, and to the delight of nearly 17,700 fans, superstar and Caesars Palace headliner Shania kissed hubby Frederic Thiebaud for the Thomas & Mack Center kiss cam.
Just two days now remain until more than $4 million in prizes and shining gold buckles are presented to the champions before they depart town and leave the Strip as quiet as can be for the week before Christmas.

Former Alaska Gov. and GOP vice-presidential contender Sarah was in country clothes and a cowboy hard hat at South Point for the naming rights ceremony of the new Priefert Pavilion, a multimillion-dollar expansion project at South Point President Michael Gaughan’s Arena and Equestrian Center. Two new climate-controlled venues will add more than 100,000 square feet to existing facilities. Completion is expected next summer in time for events in September.
Shania opened Canada Night at the 2013 WNFR, where Wayne Void and Lexi Larsen performed the dual neighboring national anthems. Before her ride around the arena, three rodeo champions met up with Shania backstage: South Dakota saddle bronc rider Chad Ferley; steer wrestler Luke Branquinho from California; and steer wrestler Jason Miller from Wyoming.
Our thanks to contributing photographer Tom Donoghue for his exclusive photos and action gallery and to WNFR for its assistance with this report.
Twenty-one-year-old Cody Teel is closing in fast on his quest for a second world bull riding championship in a row. He grabbed the average lead away from two-time world champ J.W. Harris, who has a $37,000 lead in the world standings. If Cody closes that gap with another round win, plus, the top average check winning the remaining two rounds — that would be four in a row — he’d claim another gold buckle.
“I knew coming into this that I was a long shot to be able to win another gold buckle,” said Cody. “Mathematically I wasn’t, but my main goal was to win the Finals average and let the rest play out.” Incredibly, it’s a comeback-kid story after last year’s win as the second-youngest bull riding world champ.
Cody, competing in only his second Wrangler NFR, broke his left elbow and had surgery March 7 that required 10 screws and two plates. It sidelined him nearly three months and in returning suffered a broken jaw. He has been competing here with a metal plate in his chin.
“Obviously, at the start of this season I was wanting another gold buckle, but with the injuries this year, I’m happy to be here and in this spot,” he added. “I’m going for the average, and if the world title comes with it, then it would be that much better.” He was one of only three of 15 cowboys who managed to stay on for the full 8 seconds, hanging off the side of the bull for the last few seconds of his ride, but making it to the whistle.
“The first thing I was wondering was how the heck did I get in this position?” he said. “To begin the ride, it felt great and I thought I was in total control, but by the end I was just trying to hold on and grit it out until the whistle. I guess I got a little too comfortable and lost my aggressiveness toward the end, but I got it done, and it worked out.”
Red-hot Jake Wright won his fourth round in eight days in saddle bronc riding and is poised to earn his first gold buckle. His twin brother, Jesse, claimed the world title last year, and older brother Cody won the championship in 2008 and 2010. Jake is now third in the average and leads the world standings with $175,535, nearly $21,000 more than third-place brother Cody.
“If I keep doing what I’m doing, I like my chances to win the world, but I have to ride well the next two nights,” said Jake, who has earned $87,440 here. “I came into this WNFR just wanting to do better than I did last year, and I’ve done that. Everything else is icing on the cake from this point.”
Utah’s Kaycee Feild, who became the third bareback rider to win back-to-back rounds, is now first in the average and world standings. By Saturday night, he hopes to be the first bareback rider to win three consecutive world championships since the mid-1970s. Kaycee leads the world standings by more than $25,000 over four-time world champ Bobby Mote.
Barrel racer Sherry Cervi claimed her third round win in 13.71 seconds. She leads the average by 1.7 seconds and tops the world standings by nearly $50,000 over defending champ Mary Walker. Sherry, looking for her fourth gold buckle, has picked up a winner’s check in all eight rounds and is trying to match Kristie Peterson’s record for earning money in all 10 rounds and winning the average.
Check back over the weekend for coverage of the final two rounds and then Monday we’ll have a report of the gold buckle and big-check presentations.

Update Alaska Mint Confirms No-Palin Involvement Exclusive Sensational Exposé: Alaska Gold Coin, Wonkette-Mediaite And The Truth About Palin

UPDATE; Alaska Mint Responds to scurrilous attacks on Governor Palin exclusive correspondence:

This site, through its commentators, has, effectively, accused you of gouging, and running a scam whilst ripping off wounded warriors. It also advises that Gov.Palin is running this.

Mike
Thank you for sharing this info with us. We are a private mint here in Alaska, Gov. Palin has nothing to do with these or any of our other medallion projects.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Mike Robuck,
Owner
Alaska Mint

MJ Sheppard to Mike Robuck

Thanks Mike I am sure I am not the only one who brought these scurrilous allegations to  your attention-I'm saddened you have been subjected to it.
***************************************************************

The Alaska Mint  (website http://shop.alaskamint.com/searchquick-submit.sc?keywords=sarah+palin ) is a private firm which makes speciality items for collectors including gold medals.
They produced a number of items relating to the former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin including these items:

Included in their offerings in the past was this item with the following notation "A donation from the sale of these medallions will be made to Wounded Warrior Project, helping seriously injured service members."

The Twitchy site  Link http://twitchy.com/2013/12/12/unintentional-satire-michael-mckean-takes-a-shot-at-sarah-palin/ noted the following "What has actor Michael McKean invoking the Unintentional Satire Department? The link leads to a — gasp! — gold Sarah Palin medallion from Alaska Mint. And that’s it. It’s nothing to make Palin look foolish, and if it raises money for the Wounded Warrior Project, we’re all for unintentional satire."
Department of Unintentional Satire: http://bit.ly/1hPX8jR

If that were it, apart from the usual "snark" from idiotic Palin haters on twitter then it might appear as just another in the endless series of show business types trying to get publicity by attacking Palin-a sure-fire formula which the "progressive" media and the Palin haters lap up (see Cher et al ad infinitum).

But no the "scurrilous site Wonkette" as Ann Althouse described it continued its endless attacks on Governor Palin with not just one post, but another on its equally disgusting "art' site. This is an example of the comments from the self-admitted drug users, alcohol abusers and unemployed layabouts that infest the site:

Here is how Wonkette Link http://wonkette.com/536444/help-us-feel-all-grifty-this-christmas-with-this-gorgeous-sarah-palin-gold-coin
described Governor Palin in the article relating to the medallion "She’s just so down home, which is what we love in a Fox News personality/ex-politician/scam artist." and at the "art site" Link http://happynicetimepeople.com/christmas-sarah-palin-gold-coin/ there is this statement;

"we’re very fond of the “a donation” language, because it lets us know that we really have no idea how much of the price of this magnificent medallion actually rolls on over to the charity, but given Sarah Palin’s solid history of honesty in donating and oh god we cannot even finish typing that sentence even as a joke."

Here is a report, one of too many to detail here, as regards Governor Palin and charity and in relation to lib Joe Biden and charity "
Embedded image permalink

What the Wonkette article didn't show was all the Obama medallions (with no charity association.
Embedded image permalink

But the worst part of this Alinsky-ite action is the implication that Governor Palin is associated with this private firm (who can charge what they wish and give as much or as little as they wish-it is a business), that she is somehow "scamming" the Wounded Warriors charity.

  • Elaine Kurpiel I was so hoping that, in the last sentence, you were going to laugh and say the article was "borrowed" from the Onion. If true, that money is going nowhere except to her next botox treatment and breast enhancement. She is ugly inside and outside.

      • Avatar

This seems disgusting even by her incredibly low standards, to involve a good charity like Wounded Warriors in her grift pitch.
      And of course adding insult to injury the fact that I brought this gold coin matter to the wider public weeks before Wonkette distorted it for their nefarious purposes was totally ignored by them-giving credit to ethical sources is clearly not something they are interested in;

I wrote to Alaska Mint to appraise them of these scurrilous articles and allegations-what they do as far as legal action, if any, would be over to them.

In the end what happened to Bashir will happen to Wonkette and its ilk-they had lost all their advertising support when they attacked Governor Palin's son Trig and it is just a matter of time before they do a Bashir and get caught in their own evil devices.

I can reveal, from an unimpeachable source in Alaska
that, yes, Alaska Mint is a private firm and Governor Palin has nothing to do with the medallions.

Palin hater Tommy Christopher at Mediaite another site infested with the Paln Deranged Syndrome notes that the latest edition of the coin doesn't' have a reference to God.  http://www.mediaite.com/online/why-do-sarah-palin-solid-gold-coins-hate-god/

But what it has or doesn't have has absolutely nothing to do with Governor Palin-this is a private firm. The Palin haters are either to dense to do a little research or as usual distort the message to try , in any way possible, to attack Palin which proves, again, that she is perceived as a threat to the left.

As you can see, the 2009 Sarah Palin coin has rightly and Christianly positioned the words “In God We Trust” right in the middle of the coin, just above Palin’s shoulder. The 2012 coin? It is just gone! Why, Sarah Palin coin? Why have you forsaken us? The reverse side does feature the Pledge of Allegiance, which contains the words “one nation, under God,” but it is apparently a God we no longer trust.
